CNPC to Continue Raising Proportion of Newly Discovered Reserves from Expansion, Push for Unconventional Resource Exploration

At the 2025 Oil and Gas Exploration Annual Conference held yesterday (16th), Dai Houliang, Chairman of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), called for vigorous implementation of two major strategic initiatives, the "reserve-to-production ratio stabilization project" and the "enhanced recovery ballast project", during the 15th Five-Year Plan period and beyond. While making every effort to ensure that the reserve-to-production ratio remains firmly stable at the 2025 level throughout the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Dai stressed the need to maintain efficient exploration and high-quality reserve growth, strengthen conventional resource exploration, continuously increase the share of newly discovered reserves from expansion, and focus on breakthroughs in unconventional resource exploration.
