<H Shrs>HSI Climbs 373 Pts at Midday, HSTECH Mounts 3.5% as BIDU-SW Soars 16%

The HSI climbed 373 points or 1.4% to 26,812 at midday. The HSCEI gained 167 points or 1.8% to 9,553. The HSTECH leaped 212 points or 3.5% to 6,290. Total half-day turnover of the market amounted to $192.355 billion. The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) held a Cybersecurity Entrepreneurs Symposium urging leading companies to accelerate R&D of independent controlled security chips to break monopolies. Sixteen companies attended the event, including Huawei and Baidu. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) spiked 15.9% to close at $131.2, while BABA-W (09988.HK) advanced 5%. SMIC (00981.HK) and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) elevated 5.7% and 2.9%, while KINGSOFT CLOUD (03896.HK) swelled 7%. SENSETIME-W (00020.HK) and GDS-SW (09698.HK) mushroomed over 5%. JD-SW (09618.HK)'s management said that it would not pursue food delivery market share at any cost, according to JPMorgan's research report.
